Clearview Community Medical Detox - Nanaimo

A withdrawal management service offered at no cost in a Nanaimo home-like setting that provides treatment for acute withdrawal management from alcohol and other substances.
Clearview Detox is free of charge withdrawal management service offered in a home-like setting in Nanaimo. This inpatient program is completely voluntary, and provides service to all communities north of Mill Bay out of a 12 bed medically supported facility. This includes the regions of Cowichan Valley, Nanaimo, Parksville, Courtenay/Comox, Port Alberni, Campbell River and Tofino/Ucluelet.

Services Provided:
  • 24-hour acute withdrawal management from alcohol and other substances.
  • Group programming and relapse prevention planning.
  • Connection and referral to various community services and support with discharge planning.
How to Access Services:
  • Self-refer by calling Mental Health and Substance Use team.
  • Referrals from Indigenous counsellors with First Nations Health Authority.
  • Referrals from acute care staff (hospital-based physicians and nurses).
  • Note: Non-Island Health clinical counsellors and practitioners can contact Clearview directly to receive a referral form
Referrals are sent to the clinical team at Access Central who will assess and triage all withdrawal management referrals and self-referrals for Clearview and Community Medical Detox in Victoria.
  • Admissions are booked by medical priority and not necessarily by date of referral. For waitlist updates and to speak with a nurse about specific withdrawal needs, please call Access Central 1-888-885-8824.
  • If an individual does not have a telephone, please ensure the referral includes the best way to reach them.
  • If the referral is accepted, the individual will be placed on the waitlist, and contacted as they near the front of the line.
  • Individuals referred to Clearview Detox must be able to move independently and manage their own basic self-care.
