Rabies Exposure Management

A phone line available for advice and feedback regarding suspected rabies exposure.
Report potential rabies exposure to the local Communicable Disease unit, who will assess the need for Rabies Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (RPEP) (which will require Medical Health Officer authorization).

Local Communicable Disease units are organized into North, Central, and South Island, typically available Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. The Medical Health Officer is available after hours on evenings, weekends and statutory holidays (see below).
